Based on a recent announcement from the USDA and the Colorado Dept. of Education Genoa-Hugo School has been granted the option to operate their school lunch/breakfast programs FREE to ALL CHILDREN within the district through the fall months.
The time frame for this program is contingent on funding from the State of Colorado. The hope is that the program will go through the month of December. The district will keep parents updated.
What this mean to our families at GHS. Starting September 3rd, 2020 all students who eat at the district will not be charged for a breakfast or lunch until further notice. Any funds that you may have placed on your students accounts will remain there until the district is mandated to return to charging for meals. However, families are responsible for any charges they may have acquired prior to September 3rd.
This is an effort from the state and federal level to ensure that all families receive meals regardless of income during the Covid-19 pandemic.
