Homecoming 2015

Genoa-Hugo School Homecoming Week activities, September 21-26, 2015
The Genoa-Hugo Cheerleaders have planned the following Spirit Week activities:
*Monday - Pajama Day: Wear your pajamas, robe, slippers, etc.
*Tuesday- Sports Day: Wear any jersey of any team that you love!             
*Wednesday - Character Day: Dress like a character from a TV show, book, or even be a superhero!
*Thursday - Celebrity Day: Dress like any celebrity that you love!

*Friday - Blue and Gold Day: Show your Pirate Pride with blue and gold!

The Genoa-Hugo Student Council has taken over the judging of the window-decorating contest for local businesses. StuCo members will judge the windows on the afternoon of Friday, September 25, 2015. Certificates will be awarded and the winners announced at halftime of the Homecoming football game on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Friday, September 25, 2015, Pep Rally/Float Building:

  • 8:00 a.m. All-school Pep Rally for the high school dance-off! Come watch the fun!
  • All-school grounds cleanup after the Pep Rally; StuCo will organize multi-level student groups
  • High School, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 P.M.; check-in for attendance before going to float sites
    • Royalty practice, on the football field with 2nd-grade attendants
    • Middle School, class as usual in the morning; float building in the afternoon.
  • Bonfire/Pep Rally, 8:00 p.m. in the middle of the track. At this time, the Homecoming King & Queen will be announced. NO additional wood is needed for the bonfire; G-H custodial staff has it taken care of.
  • Voting is underway, and the names of the 2015 Genoa-Hugo Homecoming Court and Junior (2nd grade) attendants will be in the announcements on the school website as well as in next week’s paper.  

    Saturday, September 26, 2015
  • 7:30-9:30 a.m. Pancake Breakfast hosted by Lincoln Community Hospital $5.00 adults; students free.
  • 9:00 a.m. Parade Line-up

(Drivers of floats, vehicles, etc. for the Parade need to park on the north side of the upper access road to be directed to their place in the lineup to allow other drivers room to pass by to drop off students, etc.)
9:30 a.m. Parade float judging; theme, “Dance through Time!”

10:00 a.m. G-H Homecoming Parade
• Pictures of the Homecoming royalty following the parade at the Lincoln Manor
11:00 a.m. Booster Club Lunch in School Cafeteria

  • 12:00 noon, Lady Pirates Volleyball vs. Edison Eagles
    2:00 p.m. Football game vs. Hanover Hornets
  • Royalty & Crowning of the Homecoming King & Queen, halftime of the football game
    6:30 p.m. Alumni Banquet in the school cafeteria; $12.50/plate; contact Kara Emmerling at the school at

9:00 p.m.-midnight, HS Student Dance (semi-formal) in the school cafeteria (open to G-H & Karval High School students only)
